NCB performs annual lectures on the current biotechnology issues, inviting the leading foreign scientists. In 2006-2008, 26 prominent scientists from the USA, France, Japan, Malaysia, Great Britain, Switzerland, Australia, Korea, and the Russian Federation were invited to read lectures on biotechnology.
The year 2009 saw over 20 lectures and seminars on the topical problems and the latest biotechnology methods with participation of the leading scientists from Columbia University (USA), Institute of Cytology and Genetics of Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk), Research Institute of Physico-Chemical Medicine (Moscow), representatives of well known international equipment manufacturers from the USA, Germany and Israel.
NCB employees take probation every year in the leading research centers and institutes of the Russian Federation: over 170 employees have taken the medium-term (maximum 3 months long) probation within the last 3 years.
National Center for Biotechnology is implementing joint scientific projects with the prominent international scientific organizations, like International Sci-Tech Center (ISTC), Defense Threat Reduction Agency, USA (DTRA), Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), Bio-Industry Initiative (BII) of the US State Department, International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (СIММYТ).
Today National Center for Biotechnology is a direct contractor for the project of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) "Capacity building for plant biotechnology ordered to provide sustainable use of genetic plant resources for food stuff and agriculture" in the framework of Program of technical assistance for developing countries. The project deals with transfer of knowledge and advanced technologies, strengthening of national and international relationship, assistance with exchange of information on application of modern biotechnology and selection methods in plant-growing, integration of Kazakhstan scientists into the international scientific space, modernization of material and technical facilities of laboratories.
The National Center for Biotechnology is a contact point for Kartakhensky protocol for bio-safety of Biological Diversity Convention, ratified by the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2008.
