Institute of Atmospheric Optics of Siberian branch of RAS
Institute of Atmospheric Optics n.a. V.E. Zuev of Siberian branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (IAO SB RAS) is the first academic institute established in Tomsk. It was founded in 1969 on the basis of infrared light laboratory of Siberian Physics and Technology Institute of Tomsk State University.
Institute of Atmospheric Optics is a department of Russian Academy of Sciences.
Principal activities – research work in terms of atmospheric optics and development of new appliances, software and dataware designed for this research work. Institute possesses a unique basis, enabling systematic monitoring of atmosphere parameters carried out through many years.
Institute organizes regular scientific expeditions into various regions of Russia and the globe, targeted at measurement and reveal of regularities of atmospheric parameters behavior.
Principal scientific activities of Institute:
Current problems of optics and laser physics, including atmospheric optics and spectroscopy, transfer of optical radiation through the atmosphere, investigation of processes determinating optical state of atmosphere, electro-optical systems and technologies of environmental research;
Physical and chemical processes in the atmosphere and on the surface of the Earth, climate formation and change mechanisms, including optically significant atmospheric components and processes determinating radiation mode and climate on the Earth.
