St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University is a multifunctional institution of higher education acknowledged as the National Research University.

The university plays a significant role in the research and educational community of the country and the world. Every year SPbSPU holds over 30 international conferences, publishes textbooks, monographs and research periodicals.
The university has highly skilled personnel and up-to-date equipment for effective work in the following fields: information and communication technologies, computer engineering, nanomaterials, nanotechnologies and nanobiotechnologies, power engineering and energy saving, machine building.
For 110 years the university has trained over 180 000 specialists, including a lot of world-known scientists – winners of Russian and international prizes (including the Nobel Prize), founders of new scientific schools and trends, full and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, branch Russian and foreign academies.
