Since July 1, 2007 the Research Department of Vologda State Technical University (VSTU) has been reorganized into the Innovation and Technology Center. The main priority of the Center is improvement of the innovation process control.
In 2009 the Laboratory of Intelligent Image Recognition Systems has been founded. The laboratory is focused on the development of intelligent systems for emergency recognition.
Annually VSTU patents about 5 innovations, being a result of the University research activity covering the following fields of study:
