Best cities for doing business in Russia

For the third year running Forbes Russia has compiled the list of 30 Russian cities that offer the best conditions for doing business.

This year Forbes looked at 103 Russian cities with the population over 150,000 people.

Krasnodar tops the list, while Khabarovsk ranks second. They are followed by cities with over a million dwellers – Yekaterinburg (3), Chelyabinsk (4), Novosibirsk (5), Omsk (6), Rostov-on-Don (7), Samara (8), Krasnoyarsk (10). The only debutant in Top 10 list is the city of Sochi (9).

Among the cities ranked 11 to 30 there are mainly those who managed to the list for the first time this year – Surgut, Kaliningrad, Yakutsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Kazan, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kaluga, Yaroslavl, Ufa, Belgorod, Perm, Murmansk, Vladivostok, Vladimir, Novorossiysk, Tomsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Magnitogorsk, Tula, Vologda.

An interesting fact is that neither Moscow nor St. Petersburg have been included in the Forbes list of best cities for doing business in Russia. Evidently, this is because they are excessively monopolized.
