Innovations

Ryazan Region has considerable sci-tech potential. Electronics, radio engineering, agriculture and medicine are the main sectors, where R&D activities are carried out by local enterprises. 

Strong scientific and production base has been developed in the region, with the enterprises of military industrial complex in its core. Vast potential accumulated at these enterprises enables development and mastering of new hi-tech products.

According to Ryazan Association of Small and Medium-Sized Innovative Enterprises, about 50 small innovative companies are currently operating in the region, each employing from several to 100 people.

Most of the newly founded small and medium-sized innovative companies are engaged in development and production of:

• Medical equipment, introduced to Ryazan enterprises
• Appliances and devices supplied to major enterprises of Moscow and Moscow Region, mainly for oil and gas and motor industries
• Appliances and devices ordered by Ryazan companies
• Control and management systems based on off-the-shelf devices ordered by Ryazan companies involved in housing and utilities industry, property security, power engineering etc.
• Information and telecommunication systems
• Software products to be used at the enterprises of various industries
• Appliances and devices using solar power units
• Radio communications

Research and development activities are also conducted by the key Ryazan universities.

Ryazan State Radio Engineering University (RSREU) performs research work in the field of information and communication technologies, information security, nanotechnologies, processing and identification of aerospace images, biomedical instrument making, power electronics, mass spectrometry, information management systems.

The list of RSREU strategic partners includes the largest research defence and machine-building institutes and enterprises of Russia.

In September 2009, the regional office of Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE) was founded in Ryazan Region on the basis of RSREU.

Research activities at Ryazan State I.P. Pavlov Medical University (RSMU) are conducted within 17 formed scientific schools and 16 scientific fields, recognized both in Russia and abroad and covering the key issues of advanced medicine, biology, pharmacy and the humanities.

Over a number of years the university scientists have been carrying out research in detoxification in surgery, urgent abdominal surgery, utilization of minimally invasive technologies in surgery, endotoxemia diagnosis and treatment, surgical infection.

RSMU participates in the implementation of World Health Organization’s program “Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases” (GARD), together with Research Institute of Pulmonology of the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Russian Federation.

The regional innovation infrastructure includes a number of organizations, founded with participation of the Government of Ryazan Region:

• Innovation and Technology Center n.a. V.F.Utkin, NPO is the core of the innovation structure of Ryazan Region. The Center aims to create the regional innovation system, which could secure efficient interaction between innovative companies, organizations, authorities, aimed at enhancement of production efficiency, accelerated introduction of new sci-tech developments and technologies, regional economy change-over to innovative development strategy.
• Ryazan Association of Small and Medium-sized Innovative Enterprises was founded by the heads of small and medium-sized companies of Ryazan Region. The Association represents the member’s interests at the regional Government, assists with the search of partners, consults the enterprises on the conditions of participation in grant competitions, spreads information about exhibition activities of the companies.
• Ryazan Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative and Production Companies was founded by Government of Ryazan Region and Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises. The Foundation performs micro-crediting for small innovative businesses.
