For the past few years the region has seen a gradually increasing number of specific fairs which have promoted further development of innovation processes, increased competitiveness of products in the home and foreign markets, helped attract investments for Russian projects.
Fair events are hold mainly in Vologda. The regional centre has become a site for such annual events as International fairs and exhibitions “Russian Wood” and “Russian Flax”, as well as Interregional fair of tourist service and hospitability technologies “Gates to the North”. These events attract participants from more than 20 regions of the Russian Federation and representatives from more than 10 foreign countries.
Vologda Region is a successful and promising centre for international cooperation in the European part of the Russian Federation. The region holds foreign business festivals (Austrian, Bulgarian, Italian, Finnish, etc.), big international events like conferences, meetings, festivals, competitions, scientific symposia, exhibitions, sport events. Vologda Region representatives also take active part in foreign fair events which helps to position the region as an investment attractive subject of the Russian Federation in the eyes of the Russian and world official and business circles.
Russian Flax
The program of the International Fair and Exhibition "Russian Flux" includes workshops on flax growing and processing; press-conferences, round-table discussions, sharing experiences; presentations of yarn, modern fabric, clothes, footwear, accessory, interior articles; displays of flax-growing and flax-processing equipment, textile and light industry machinery; presentations of investment projects; competition of weavers of light industry enterprises. Held annually, it increases competitiveness of the flaxen products presented on the Russian market.
Russian Wood
The International Fai and Exhibition "Russian Wood" is focused on the issues of timber industry, forest recreation and utilization. It is to demonstrate cutting-edge innovation technologies of timber harvesting and processing, modern equipment and machinery, application and introduction of scientific developments.
The program of the exhibition is rather diverse, it includes scientific conferences, seminars, business meetings, machinery and equipment shows, professional forest workers’ competitions, etc.
Gates to the North
“Gates to the North” is an interregional exhibition for tourist services and hospitality technologies. It annually welcomes representatives of tourist industry from many regions of the Russian Federation as well as guests from foreign countries. The exhibition offers comprehensive business and entertainment program, which includes presentations of region’s major tourist projects, round-table discussions, seminars, contests, etc. The event is aimed at developing home and foreign tourism and tourist infrastructure, arranging adequate recreation and health improvement programs for Russian citizens, adoption of breakthrough tourist business technologies.
